Cherokee Education Days

Ancient Cherokee Days- October 1 and 2, 2009

education daysSchool aged children will experience Cherokee life in the 1600’s.  With the Ancient Village as a backdrop to the event, children can weave a basket, pinch a pot, play stickball, marbles and chunkey and even have their face tattooed (face paint) like our Cherokee ancestors!  Other cultural stations will be available including Cherokee language and storytellers.

This outdoor classroom is presented each fall and celebrates Cherokee life nearly four centuries ago!

Admission includes a tour of the Cherokee National Museum and the award winning Trail of Tears Exhibit.

The event is open to the public.  Call for pricing and recommended reservations.  The outdoor classroom setting is perfect for public schools, home schooled students, parochial and private school groups.

Indian Territory Days-March 25 and 26, 2010

Indian Territory DaysIndian Territory Days celebrates Cherokee life in the late 1800’s.  Set in the period village, Adams Corner, school aged children can experience Cherokee classes in the little red schoolhouse, learn to weave, play Cherokee games such as marbles and stickball as well as other games from that era.

Other cultural stations allow students to experience life in the 19th Century.  Storytellers spin yarns about outlaws and life during this time.

The Cherokee National Museum will be open for touring.
